Treatments

Teeth whitening

There are two types of teeth whitening

In-office: This treatment lasts for about an hour and a higher concentration of bleaching material is used. The results are good and satisfying, especially when combined with home bleaching trays

Home bleaching trays: This is done by the patient at home for two hours every day for two weeks. The result is gradual but usually better and longer lasting than in-office whitening. My personal opinion is that bleaching at home is more efficient and economical than in-office bleaching. This is because the trays stay with the patient and every time bleaching needs to be repeated the patient simply buys the whitening material instead of starting the procedure from the beginning

Please note that whitening material just whitens teeth and not fillings or crowns. Therefore, there may be a need to change the old fillings and crowns after the whitening process

Conservative treatments fillings

There are two types of fillings

White filling (composite): This material is made in all colors to fit all shades of teeth. You can adjust the color for each tooth. This material allows for a very aesthetic solution, but is less fitting for patients with poor oral hygiene

Amalgam fillings: These fillings are metallic gray. The have existed in dentistry for many years and have proved to be successful. However, they are now less attractive due to lack of aesthetics

Crowns

Root Canal-treated teeth which lost their vitality both in terms of color (grayness), and in terms of flexibility within the tooth socket can break easily. To prevent irreversible breaks that will eventually lead to tooth extraction and simultaneously restore natural color, we use crowns. Crowns cover the teeth and keep them from breaking

They always come in a natural tooth color and the shades can be matched with the other teeth. Crowns are made of metal and porcelain veneer.

There are a number of types of crowns: made of not precious metal, semi-precious metal, precious metal, and today there are also crowns without metal, only made of very strong porcelain

The most common types of crowns are those made of semi-precious metal. Nowadays, when there is a much stronger demand for aesthetics, all ceramic (non-metal) crowns are usually used in the anterior region of the mouth

  Laminate (Veneers) - porcelain coating

This is usually made for the anterior teeth. It can help bring back the smile to your face. It can be used to align slightly rotated teeth and create uniformity in the color of teeth with large old restorations that changed their color. Short teeth can be extended, can change shape and close spaces. A porcelain veneer is not done for a tooth that had previous root canal treatment

Dental implants

This procedure is the opposite of a tooth extraction. They are created to replace a missing tooth assuming that the bone was maintained in terms of the length, thickness and width. For this reason, dental implants are the perfect solution to restoring missing teeth. Titanium metal implants do not cause allergies. Implant surgery is a relatively simple and brief procedure done only under local anesthetics. After inserting the implant there is a waiting period of 4-6 months for the upper jaw and 3-4 months for the lower jaw. Within that time the implant fuses with the bone. After the waiting period, the implant is exposed and the crown is built on it and looks like a natural tooth. This brings functionality and aesthetics to the mouth

Some say that immediate loading of the implant is possible. On the day of the implant inserting procedure we can load the implant with the temporary crown, but there is a risk of decreasing the success rate of the implant

In addition, the success rate is decreased for diabetics and smokers because there is a higher chance that the implant will be rejected.

Rejected implant - an implant that is not stabile after exposure and leaks the fusion with the bone

Teeth cleaning - dental hygienist treatment

This treatment is recommended every six months and in some cases even every four months. Layers of plaque and calculus are cleaned, thus the soft tissues around the tooth remain healthy. This treatment is very important in people with gum disease( gingivitis, periodontitis)
