Permanent Removable Dentures in Jerusalem

שיניים תותבות קבועות נשלפות

Permanent dentures are a long-term solution to reserve aesthetic and chewing abilities of the mouth for those who have lost all or some teeth due to a severe blow, tooth extraction, or poor dental health.

Permanent dentures are artificial removable teeth (compared to fixed dentures, which are permanent as well, but are fixed into the jawbones). It is a set of teeth personally designed for the patient to replace their original teeth. This treatment is suitable for patients who are unwilling or unable to undergo rehabilitation over implants.

Advantages of Permanent Removable Dentures

Permanent dentures are personally designed for the patient’s measurements, so they fit their facial features, cheek, lips, etc. The dentures affect the patient’s entire facial appearance, they allow them to smile widely and help them increase their confidence and self-image.

Besides that, removable dentures have a number of advantages over other dental rehabilitation treatments:

The fact that they can be easily removed to be cleaned is tremendously important. Since the soft tissues under the dentures could suffer from inflammations, regularly and easily cleaning the dentures helps preventing future problems.

Another advantage is that it’s a relatively quick and simple procedure compared to rehabilitation over implants: creating a permanent removable denture doesn’t involve any surgical procedure or a recovery waiting period.

And perhaps the biggest advantage of permanent removable dentures, is the price. The price for this treatment is significantly lower than rehabilitation over implants. Even if further work would have to take place, like fixing or readjusting the dentures, it is easier to do when it’s removable dentures and not implants.

Installing Permanent Removable Dentures

When the need for permanent removable dentures arises, such as if several teeth have to be extracted, temporary dentures are priorly made. After the extraction takes place, they take those teeth’s place until the area has fully healed (which usually takes 3-6 months). After the treated area has fully healed, the permanent dentures are installed.

We will note that even though these teeth are artificial, they also have to be maintained: remove them and clean them from time to time, to prevent germs accumulation which could lead to infection and other dental health issues. The better the dentures are maintained, the longer they can be used by the patient.
