Dental Implant Restoration: Implant Types And Treatment Methods

טיפול שיקום על גבי שתלים בירושלים

Dental implant restoration is a great solution for patients who have lost teeth for any reason. and allows for the creation of artificial alternative teeth that are not based over adjacent teeth, such as braces that are mounted on stable teeth on either side of an extracted tooth, thus forcing the grinding of healthy teeth to replace the missing tooth.

The treatment is based over a surgical procedure of a metal implant, normally titanium, into the jawbone to replace the missing root. After the area heals, a crown is screwed into the implant (or a construct is glued onto it) to replace the missing tooth. That way, a rehabilitating treatment can be performed for a single tooth and up to a full set of teeth.

Dental-implants based rehabilitation treatments are suitable for any patient regardless of their age, but their general health and the state of the jawbones do factor in. If the jawbone is not high enough, the solution might be dental bone graft or sinus lift – both of these treatments are offered in our clinic.

Types of Mouth Rehabilitation Treatments Offered in Our Jerusalem Dental Clinic

Our clinic offers a few types of rehabilitation treatments over implants:

For the sake of this example, let’s imagine a patient who has no teeth at all. One way of treatment is to implant full dentures held by the soft tissues of the mouth.

Another option for that patient can be to implant 3 to 4 implants into each jaw (at least two), and then we can install removable long-term dentures held by the implants. For example, if there are four implants in the jawbone, constructs that connect to the dentures can be installed upon them, which will be held very sturdily. We believe this is the best treatment for most patients, and it’s better than dentures held by soft tissues.

The third option: we can install dentures using a system known as All-On-6 dental implants, for which six implants are installed in each jawbone, and using a kind of screwing method, we create a fixed brace out of porcelain, acryl, or composite. This kind of brace will be partly painted in pink to make it appear like natural gums which creates an aesthetically pleasing look overall. This system enables constructing 12 to 14 teeth over each jaw.

Dental Implants Restoration: What’s the Difference Between All-On-4 and All-On-6?

Some dental clinics offer a treatment called All-On-4, during which only 4 implants are installed in each jawbone, and over them the fixed brace gets installed. Besides the difference in the number of implants required, we’ve witnessed better results with the All-On-6 method, which is why in our clinic, we will more likely recommend All-On-6 treatment.

The Importance of Hygiene Maintenance After Dental Implantation Treatment

Some patients believe that once a dental implant replaces their natural tooth, they don’t have to maintain dental hygiene anymore – but that’s absolutely wrong. In fact, in most cases, the gums where implants were installed become more sensitive to infections and germs, which is why it’s very important to maintain regular dental hygiene even after you’ve gone through rehabilitation treatments by implants.
