Minimally Invasive Dentistry in Jerusalem
Minimally Invasive Dentistry is a complete treatment approach with numerous types of treatments that all aim to be as little invasive as possible and maintain as much of the natural tooth as possible. All the dental treatments in our clinic are performed in this approach.
What is Minimally Invasive Dentistry?
The main idea of Minimally Invasive Dentistry it to perform minimal treatment to maintain as much of the natural tooth as possible without harming any of the healthy tissues. A careful approach, thorough planning and thinking are necessary before the treatment starts, and then advanced equipment must be used for this precise goal.
What Type of Treatments are Included Under the “Minimally Invasive Dentistry” Approach?
Here are a few examples of treatments that can be performed under the Minimally Invasive Dentistry approach:
White Teeth Fillings – Until not that long ago, teeth fillings were made using a material called amalgam. That material required an expansion of the filled area since it does not stick to the tooth itself, and that expansion acted as a mechanical holding of the filling. In the Minimally Invasive Dentistry approach, a white tooth filling is performed using a different type of substance that chemically links itself to the tooth which eliminates the need of the expansion, and that allows to keep more of the natural tooth.
Dental Crown Installation – Usually, a 360-sawing of the tooth is required to install a crown. On the other hand, a dental crown installation in the Minimally Invasive Dentistry approach is done in an Onlay/Inlay/Overlay method, which means that molded E-Max porcelain dental crowns can be used, even if not a lot of the natural tooth has remained. Through the use of that material, a lot more of the natural tooth can be preserved, eradicating the sawing of the natural tooth for the normal dental crown installation.
Similarly, Minimally Invasive Dentistry treatments are applicable to Computer Guided Dental Implant Surgery, porcelain coating, and more.
Advantages of Minimally Invasive Dentistry
The Minimally Invasive Dentistry approach has a number of key advantages, and these are the two main ones:
- It hurts, but it hurts less: since the treatments are performed very carefully while using the most precise equipment, Minimally Invasive Dentistry is a minimal treatment that involves much less pain. As a result, the healing period is significantly faster and shorter.
- Preserving as much natural tooth as possible is one of the most important aspects of dentistry. The Minimally Invasive Dentistry approach allows to preserve healthy teeth tissues and focus the treatment in taking care of the infection, inflammation, or disease.
Generally, the Minimally Invasive Treatment approach is our preferred approach in Dr. Heisler’s Dental Clinic in Talpiot, Jerusalem for every type of dental treatments – ranging from teeth cleaning all the way to complex implantations, we will strive to maintain as much of the natural tooth as possible, while performing the minimal treatment required.
